About Sanathnagar

Sanathnagar is one of the biggest industrial and residential suburb in Hyderabad, India and it is also one of the most densely populated suburbs in India. The citizens of this area are generally peaceful, and come from different backgrounds and a variety of religions. The Hanuman temple at Czech colony is one of the famous sites of Hinduism. Christianity was brought to this area by the Salesian missionaries. Famous churches in the area include St. Theresa’s Church, Baptist Church, and St. Paul’s Church at Czech Colony. The Masjid close to the bus depot is a famous one known as Jafri Masjid. Apart from this there are few other Masjids such as Masjid-e-Quba & Masjid-e-Ibrahimia (Allwyn Masjid). The Eid gah near the Jafri Masjid is also famous where Eid prayers are being offered.

It has a TSRTC bus terminal, linking it to all the major suburbs of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, along with a MMTS station providing local rail connectivity to various parts of Hyderabad.

Known For

The former industrial area of Sanathnagar includes some of the medium and small-scale chemical, pharmaceutical, electrical, and mechanical industries. It also has large pharmaceutical companies like Bright Star Rubber, Divi’s, Sipra, Gland Pharma Limited, Hetero and Lamco along with several major automobile service centers like GM Motors, TATA Motors, Hyundai, Maruthi Suzuki, Mercedes, FiatToyota, Volvo, Skoda. The main branch of the Sanathnagar post office is also located in this industrial area. The engineering companies Voltas and Allwyn were formerly located at Sanathnagar, along with one of the India’s leading automobile manufacturer Ashok Leyland.

Now with Bakelyte Hylam made a residential property, purchased and developed by Lodha Group, a gated community with the name CASA Paradiso is formed. Swamy Talkies, an popular age-old cinema theater, has also been converted into a gated community apartment. Major national banks such as the State Bank of India, HDFC, State Bank of Hyderabad, Andhra Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Dena Bank, ICICI Bank and big retail stores like D-Mart, Agro Mech Industries, Metalika Industries & Steel Untesils manufacturing unit, Metal Industries are also located here.
The Sunday Market located at Sanathnagar-Erragadda main road is one of the busiest, selling all kinds of second hand goods and many other miscellaneous items.

 

Sanathnagar is mostly known for its municipal parks found all over its suburbs, creating a natural atmosphere. K. Laxmi Yadav Park, a notable recent addition, is now one of the most beloved parks in the area. Wide open spaces such as the Welfare Ground, Milad Ground, Vinayak Ground, and Nehru Park provide good sporting avenues for the youth. The Sanathnagar-Fathenagar-Balkampet Flyover, providing a good aerial view of the Begumpet airport, is commonly enjoyed by the public in the evenings.

Welfare Ground was one of the biggest open fields for playing cricket. This ground looks like a small cricket stadium. In summer this is occupied with about 300-400 people playing cricket daily. Now it also includes a swimming pool. Currently it is under the process of being developed as a sports complex.

In the past, it has served as a residential area for officers, known as SRT quarters. It has since grown to include neighboring localities consists of several other smaller localities such as Fathenagar, BK Guda, Ravindra Nagar Colony, part of Sanjiva Reddy Nagar, Ashok Colony, Czech Colony, DNM Colony, Subhash Nagar Colony, Jayaprakash Nagar Colony, and ESI (Hospital and Quarters).

Education

The early schools set up in this area include Covells High School, the first school established in 1964. It was followed in 1965 by St. Theresa’s Girls High School. Hindu Public School is the biggest school here. Other schools located in this suburb are the Rose Buds High School, Neena High School (established in 1984),Crescent Convent High School, Vasistha Vidyalaya, Vidyanjali High School, Rainbow School, Sun Shine High School, Blue Diamond High School, Jai Bharati School and the Little Scholars School. The Hindu college for women is a prominent college in the suburb.

Hospitals

St. Theresa’s Hospital is the oldest hospitals in the area. A newly started Neelima Hospital has become one of the most popular hospital in this area. Apart from these Sanathnagar has Vijaya Krishna Nursing Home, Bharthi Nursing Home and Poojitha Hospital located in Czech Colony, the government owned ESI hospital is also present in the suburb for the poor.

Hotels & Restaurants

Some of the oldest hotels of Irani chai are here, Janta Cafe, New Datsun Cafe, Saba Cafe are here. Srinivasa Bhavan near Vegetable market is popular for its tiffins. If you are looking for biryani then Lucky Biryani house is the right place. Poojitha Restaurant & Bar is also here in Sanathnagar.

Shopping

Agro-Mech Industries which is popularly known as Steel Factory is one of the top places for shopping steel, plastic and many other home and kitchen products. And now who doesn’t know D-Mart in Sanathnagar? It has become the most popular destinations for shopping, may it be grocery, clothes, footwear, gifts its a one stop for all. People not just from sanathnagar but even from the nearby areas are also visiting it for their daily, weekly and monthly shopping. Veerabhadra Furniture and Yousufain Furniture are famously known for furniture items. Newly opened Reliance Fresh is becoming popular among the people now.
